EMDR Trauma Therapy

So you realise you are stuck because of a past life event

EMDR Trauma Therapy Farnborough, Fleet, Farnham & Camberley

People may experience a life-changing event or trauma at any point in their life.  These events are kept locked away in your memory and can result in a range of disturbances including anxiety, depression, flashbacks, and avoidance of certain situations.  EMDR does not rely on talk therapy or medication. Where normal talk therapy often isn’t successful in resolving the issue and medication may only help supress associated uncomfortable psychological feelings, there is a method that works at a deeper level which is known as eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).  EMDR is a method of treatment accredited by NICE.

The Outcome of EMDR

The intention of EMDR therapy is to access the disturbing memory bank and process these distressing memories, reducing their lingering influence and destructive emotions and possible destructive behaviours.  This frees-up clients to move ahead and develop more creative coping strategies and to move on with their lives.

EMDR Treatment Provides Excellent Results

There is no single approach in psychotherapy treatment that is guaranteed to be successful. However, with the emdr treatment procedures, the speed with which results can be obtained, the breadth of disorders which respond to treatment and the depth of healing that is achieved, all combine together to challenge customary assumptions about what is achievable in the treatment of psychological and emotional disorders.  EMDR is certainly life changing.

You Are in Control

EMDR has similarities with night-time sleep (REM Sleep or Rapid Eye Movement Sleep) where dreaming is often accompanied by rapid eye movements. During night-time sleep, it is thought that these rapid eye movements help the brain to process the unresolved memories held in the unconscious mind which may not have been understood or resolved adequately during waking hours. These eye movements facilitate the resolution of old locked-in memories which enables the creation of new positive self-beliefs, energising emotions and the development of creative patterns of behaviour.

EMDR processing seems to unlock the nervous system and allow the brain to process the negative experience thus releasing you to move ahead into a more fulfilling life.

It is important to know that at all times, you are able to co-operate with your therapist in managing the mental process and pause if required.
